Italian restaurant group Prezzo is coming to The Crescent, Hinckley and will whet the appetite for the new scheme's opening.
Prezzo, which now has more than 200 restaurants across the country, has reached an agreement to become the latest name at the new development which is regenerating the bus station area of the town centre. The company, which was started in London in 2000 and has won a string of awards, will join Sainsbury's, Cineworld, TK Maxx and Simply Gym at the scheme – which is a mix of retail, restaurant and leisure outlets.
The Tin Hat Partnership (a joint development partnership between Wilson Bowden and Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council), have welcomed Prezzo as an exciting addition to the project after the deal was agreed on the 2,637 sq ft unit, subject to planning and licensing.
Tony Baker, of Tin Hat, said:
"This is great news – not only for The Crescent but for Hinckley and the surrounding area. Prezzo has, over the past decade, established itself as one of the most popular restaurant destinations in the UK.
"It is one of those rare chains that manages to make each venue feel like it's an individual restaurant and attracts couples, groups of friends, business people and families. It's a great addition to The Crescent and really adds to the mix that we are trying to achieve for the town. We are in very positive talks with other operators and hope to have further announcements soon."
Sainsbury's and Cineworld are set to open at The Crescent later this year along with a new 540-space car park, with the whole scheme set to be launched in 2016.
Bill Cullen, Deputy Chief Executive of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, said:
"This announcement that Prezzo will be taking up a unit in The Crescent is really positive for Hinckley as it brings in a quality national family orientated restaurant chain which will add to the offer of the Town Centre."
Prezzo spokesman Eddie Gershon said:
"We are looking forward to opening in Hinckley and are confident that our restaurant will be a great addition to the town's dining scene.
"We will be spending £600,000 on the new restaurant and creating up to 20 jobs. Prezzo has an excellent reputation for the quality and choice of its food and believe the restaurant will prove popular with a wide range of people in the town."
