Goodman, in partnership with Wilson Bowden Developments, has today announced that it has been granted full planning permission to develop over 430,000 sq ft of Grade A Logistics and Warehouse space at its new 40-acre Leicester Commercial Park development.
Situated immediately adjacent to the M1/M69 intersection in Leicestershire in the East Midlands, work is expected to commence shortly with the construction of two new units of 95,500 and 335,000 sq ft respectively. Both buildings will be available for occupation by spring next year.
Each development will be constructed to the minimum BREEAM Very Good certification and feature 50-metre-wide service yards, 12 metre clear internal height, significant HGV and car parking together with two storey office accommodation.
Commenting on the announcement Goodman UK Managing Director Charles Crossland said:
"Leicester Commercial Park is situated in an outstanding location for logistics and offers one of the UK's most sought-after gateway destinations for customers seeking to take advantage of the benefits of being directly in the heart of the UK.
The acquisition and start of this new development provides a further clear example of the strategic alignment of Goodman's UK operations with our global business focused on the long-term ownership, development and management of modern, strategically located logistics facilities in prime locations.
The growth of the Goodman UK Logistics partnership remains the key focus of UK operations, with commitments of £250m to date and a further £250m in the pipeline. We will continue to develop our existing landbank to extract the highest and best use, while taking advantage of prime acquisitions as they arise."
Also commenting Henry Henson, Development Manager, Wilson Bowden said:
"This important new development in Leicester offers a strategic location directly on the junction of the M1/M69.
It is ideally suited for distribution and logistics operations and opportunities throughout the East and West Midlands and throughout the wider UK motorway network.
We are very pleased that planning permission has been granted and for the support of the local planning authorities to bring this development forward. Once again we will now be working closely with Goodman to commence construction works and deliver much needed logistics space to the East Midlands market".
