DPD has successfully moved its Nottingham depot to a larger 60,000 sq ft cross docked facility to Blenheim Park Road.
DPD says the new Distribution Centre (DC) will "cover a more optimum delivery area" to 133 new delivery routes. Up to 209 new jobs will be created when the new DC is fully operational. The new jobs will be in a range of roles including drivers, operations and warehousing.
Dwain McDonald, chief executive of DPD, said:
"I'm delighted to announce the opening of our new Nottingham Distribution Centre, it will enable us to increase our capacity and help ensure we continue to maintain the high level of services our customers have come to expect from us.
"Investment in new larger, purpose-built facilities make a huge difference to our operational efficiency and, the new Blenheim Park Road site will give us room to carry on growing as demand for our market leading services continues to grow.
"Our business has grown rapidly in the last few years due to the popularity of our innovative services which put consumers in control of their own delivery. This new Nottingham site is the latest in our ongoing investment in our infrastructure and will help us continue to deliver a first-class service to businesses, online retailers and their customers for years to come."
Blenheim Park is owned by Wilson Bowden. JLL and FHP were the joint agents for Blenheim Park, Avison Young acted for the Purchaser and the contractor was G F Tomlinson Group.
Henry Henson, development manager at Wilson Bowden said:
"We're pleased to be finally welcoming DPD to our Blenheim Park site, following 12 months of working closely to create this purpose-built facility, designed to their requirements. The site helps to secure their future in the area and create continued employment for the community, demonstrating the attraction of this well connected employment park with access to a strong labour supply."
